Beacons are a placeable block in Minecraft that buff players with status effects like Speed, Haste, and Strength. These status effects work only within a limited range. It depends on how many resources blocks are below it. Below is a description of how these ranges work.
What is the Range of a Beacon In Minecraft?
It is important to remember that the Beacon must have an area of effect. To do this, it must be placed underneath the appropriate blocks in the pyramid shape. The Beacon should then be placed on top of each block. The first level of blocks will give the Beacon the minimum range of 20 blocks. Each complete level increases the range by 10 blocks. The maximum range is 50 blocks.
The image below shows how large you will need to make the pyramid in order to reach the appropriate ranges for each level. Note: each level must be completely filled. If you build only one rim on each level, the Beacon won’t work. For all blocks, you must use the correct type of resource blocks.
Below are the blocks that you can use:
- Emerald Blocks
- Diamond Blocks
- Gold Blocks
- Iron Blocks
- Netherrite blocks
Your Beacon’s maximum range will be 50 blocks once you have completed the pyramid. After you have completed the entire pyramid, your Beacon will be able to display the designated status effect for your character for 17 seconds.
