What are the best enchantments for Minecraft?

There are many enchantments available for Minecraft equipment. It can be hard to choose the best one. Worse, the enchantments are random. To get the best from your item, you’ll need to carefully use Enchantment Tables. Grinding Wheels. Here are the best Minecraft Enchantments.

Best Minecraft Enchantments

These enchantments are applicable to all weapons, armor, and tools. We have rated them the best overall enchantments because they are so easy to use.

  • Mending: Mending will make your gear last longer. It absorbs the XP from every mob to increase your gear’s durability. This makes it one the most useful enchantments, since it fixes your gear quickly and doesn’t require you to spend any valuable resources. This enchantment will ensure that your equipment is always durable if you use it at a semiautomatic mob grinder.
  • Mending is the best companion for Unbreaking, but you can use it by itself. Unbreaking ensures that your gear doesn’t lose durability or, if it’s applied on armor, takes damage. This enchantment saves precious resources and is great for both end-game as well as early-game.

Best Armor Enchantments for Minecraft

All Armor

These armor enchantments can be used on any type of armor.

  • Protection: This is an essential feature for all armor pieces. It gives you four additional armor points for each enchanted piece. Protection IV significantly reduces the damage you take from most sources (except for status effects like poison or fire). You should have it on each piece of armor you own to ensure you are protected in battle.
  • Thorns: Thorns II will be a problem for any PVP server attackers. Although it doesn’t have much use in a Minecraft solo world, it will make other players on a PVP server think twice before attacking you. Anyone who strikes you with a melee attack will suffer significant damage from this enchantment.

Helmet

If you find yourself frequently in water, the use of the right helmet is extremely convenient. Minecraft 1.17 introduced Wet Caves, which are caves that have water inside. This makes the enchantments below even more useful. These enchantments aren’t very useful outside of this purpose. If you don’t have any of the below enchantments, we recommend enchanting your helmet using the All Armor section.

  • Respiration: You can hold your breath underwater for a prolonged period of time with this enchantment. This enchantment is very useful for those who are exploring the oceans or harvesting coral.
  • Aqua Affinity – Aqua Affinity is essential for players who have to dive deep for resources and Ocean Monuments. This reduces your mining speed when you mine underwater.

Boots

Boots can be equipped with utility enchantments to help protect them from environmental damage and even walk on water.

  • Depth Strider Boots: A Helmet with Aqua Affinity, Respiration or both is best to use with boots with Depth Strider. Depth Strider eliminates the speed penalty when swimming underwater and gives you more maneuverability while swimming.
  • Frost Walker: When you walk on water, this creates frosted an ice block. This is a good enchantment if you live on an island map and don’t want to go underwater in Minecraft. Feather Falling is recommended for all Minecraft play.
  • Feather Falling: With the changes to Minecraft in version 1.17 (the Caves & Cliffs update), Feather Falling is an essential enchantment overall. Cliffs can appear more often, some have higher drops, and caves pose a greater threat. Feather Falling IV makes it possible to reduce any fall damage. Feather Falling IV makes it possible to fall from the maximum height in the world and not die.

Shield

You can only apply a handful of enchantments to shields. Although you can apply the Curse Of Vanishing Enchantment to shields, it does not prevent other players from picking them up if you’re dead. You can’t use Shields at the Enchanting Table. Instead, you will need to have a book with the appropriate Enchantment. Then, you can use the enchantment at Anvil.

  • Mending: This is a great enchantment to use for shields. Because they’re already in the off-hand slot, they’ll be able to benefit from it whenever you get experience.
  • Unbreaking: Unbreaking, like any armor, is a great enchantment to your shield. It makes it last longer. Mending, Unbreaking III and Unbreaking III will ensure your shield never loses its strength.

Swords

  • Sharpness/Smite – Your melee damage will be greatly increased with Sharpness V and Smite V. Smite I, Sharpness I, and Smite II are of little assistance. We recommend that you only seek this enchantment when you have the most tier. Sharpness V can be used to kill all living mobs with one melee attack. Smite V can be used to one-shot the majority of undead mobs such as Zombies or Skeletons.
  • Looting III: This is the most important step in obtaining resources and end-game items. This not only increases the rate that rare items (like mob head) drop, but also increases their drop rate (e.g. skeletons drop multiple bones as opposed to one or two). If it weren’t limited to swords, Looting III would be at the top of our list for best overall enchantments.
  • Fire Aspect – Fire Aspect is a crucial component of PVP servers. You can set your enemies ablaze when you use it. Fire Aspect I is great, but Fire Aspect II can keep your enemies sweating and requiring precious time to either douse themselves or take potions to protect them from fire damage. They don’t have the ability to remove Fire Aspects effects.

Bows

  • Power: The enchantment does not provide much assistance unless you have Power IV or Power V. Once you have these, you can effectively cut down your combat time by half. This is the best enchantment for those who are proficient in aiming their bows. Power does more damage than any other enchantments, and requires more planning.
  • Punch: Punch is a versatile enchantment that can be used both for offense and defense. Punch II will knock your opponents back farther than normal when it strikes them. It can be used to knock your opponents off cliffs, or just to create distance between yourself and them. Elytra can also be used on you if you have the necessary skills.
  • Flame: This is basically a Fire Aspect for bows. Your Bow will turn into a fire arrow if it has this enchantment. It will instantly catch fire if you strike your opponent with it. We need to say more.
  • Infinity: Infinity allows you to fire unlimited arrows from a single arrow. This is a very useful enchantment for those who frequently run out of arrows. We recommend that you use one of the other enchantments above if this is not an issue.

Crossbows

  • Quick Charge This enchantment decreases your Crossbow’s reload speed. Quick Charge V allows your Crossbow to fire its arrow immediately, making it a powerful weapon against all mobs and players. This should be used in conjunction with Multishot and Piercing.
  • Multishot or Piercing can only be used with your Crossbow. Which one you choose will depend on how you play the game. Multishot is best for those who are often out in the open or on the surface. This enchantment fires three more arrows in one cone than the usual one. You might prefer Piercing if you live in narrow places or caves. The arrows will shoot through your opponent, and into anything behind them.

Trident

  • Impaling: This enchantment is great to have on your Trident if you plan to raid an Ocean Monument. It only deals additional damage to aquatic mobs, and does not affect the damage multiplier for land mobs.
  • Loyalty: The Trident is an extremely powerful weapon that can be used to enchant loyalty. Tridents can either be used as melee weapons or as ranged weapons. The Trident will return to your inventory within a short period of time if you have Loyalty. Your Trident will return to you faster if it has a higher Loyalty Level.
  • Channeling: This enchantment can cause a lighting strike to mobs that are struck by it. This can only be used during Thunderstorms, and the mob must have open skies for it to work. When the right conditions are met, each mob will change into the following after being struck by a light strike.
    • Creeper: A Charged Creeper
    • Villager: Witch
    • Pigs: Zombified Piglins
    • Mooshrooms: Opposite color Mooshroom
  • Riptide: Riptide is a fast transport system that allows the player to be moved quickly under certain conditions. To teleport to the Trident’s location, the Riptide-enchanted Trident can be thrown to the player while they are standing in water or rain. This item is the fastest method of transport in Survival.

Axe

Sometimes, axes can be forgotten weaponThey are used as tools in Minecraft. The Java version of Minecraft has axes that do more damage than swords but have a slower attack speed. You can also use them as a weapon to get some special effects using enchantments.

  • Efficiency: If you use Efficiency as an Enchantment with an Axe, there is a 5% higher chance of disabling your shield.
  • Sharpness/Smite – These are similar to swords. They can increase your overall damage against all mobs or undead mobs.

Axe, Shovel, Hoe, & Pickaxe

  • Fortune: Fortune is one of the most sought-after Enchantments. It increases the amount of resources you get when you mine certain types of blocks, most notably diamonds. This enchantment, which is essential to have on at minimum one Diamond Pickaxe, was created in response to the Minecraft 1.17 changes to Ore Blocks. In 1.17, all Iron, Copper, Gold, and Copper Ore Blocks drop raw Ore (which can be affected by the Fortune Enchantment) rather than Ore Blocks (which do not).
  • Efficiency: Increases the speed at which your tool is able to mine blocks. Speed can be helpful in rush situations, but this enchantment usually only works as Efficiency IV or V. Otherwise, your tools could disappear before you realize it.
  • Silk Touch: Silk Touch is a way to make the blocks you mine fall apart rather than raw materials. Silk Touch can be used to make a Diamond Ore Block drop a Diamond Ore Block rather than a Diamond. While this is an extremely useful enchantment many players will forego it to obtain the Fortune III Enchantment. Both of these enchantments can’t be used with the same tool.

Fishing Rod

  • Lure: This is the most common enchantment for fisherman who fish primarily for their food. Lure can reduce the waiting time for a fish to be caught by five seconds per level. Lure III is a great way to make fishing the fastest method of getting food, as you can catch a fish every two seconds.
  • Luck of the Sea: This enhances your chances of finding rare treasures while fishing, and decreases your chance of finding junk. Although it doesn’t have the same game-changing power as Mending or other enchantments that increase damage, it is a useful enchantment.

Elytra

Elytra has no access to enchantments at this time. Curse of Vanishing or Curse of Binding are both possible, but they do not provide any direct benefit to the player who uses them. Mending or Unbreakable III are recommended on Elytra to reduce the amount of resources required for maintaining it.

Best Nether Enchantments on Minecraft

These enchantments will be necessary if one wants to enter the Nether.

  • Fire Protection: Fire Protection minimizes the damage that heat causes, particularly fire and lava. To stay protected, you will need this enchantment because the Nether has fire and lava everywhere.
  • Soul Speed: This enchantment is only for your boots. It increases your ability to walk on Soul Sand at a faster pace when it is applied. It decreases the boots’ durability if you use Soul Sand and boots enchanted by Soul Speed. Boots enchanted by Soul Speed should be treated with Mending or Unbreakable.
  • Feather Falling – Feather Falling was mentioned previously as one the best enchantments to Boots and it particularly applies to the Nether. Many of the Nether Biomes, which were released in 1.16 have steep cliffs or deep chasms. This makes Feather Falling a vital enchantment for Nethers as it prevents you from inadvertently falling.
  • Knockback: If you are planning to explore the most dangerous parts of the Nether (especially Fortresses), Knockback is essential. This is more a preventative than a useful tool. It puts distance between you, any mobs and can save your life if you are in poor health.
