How to Use the Set Time Command in Minecraft

Minecraft’s /time setting command allows you to set the time for your world to a particular part of the Minecraft daycycle. It can be set to specific keyword times and Minecraft ticks (fractions a second) during the day cycle. This guide will show you how to use it.

Java

Two options exist for Java syntax. These are the options:

  • #1: /time set <TimeSpec>
    • Example: /time set day
    • Result: This sets the time until the day begins in the Minecraft day cycle.
  • #2: /time set <time>
    • Example: /time set.5d
    • Result: Sets time to 12000 ticks (half the duration of a Minecraft Day Cycle).
    • Example: /time Set 10000
    • Result: Sets time to 10000 ticks in a Minecraft day.

Arguments

  • <TimeSpec>: Keyword arguments with predefined definitions of time. Set to day, night or midnight.
  • <time>: This is the manual entry part of the Minecraft Day that allows for more customization of setting the time. Set the time according to the 24000 tick Minecraft Day cycle. Additional arguments are possible.
    • <d>: A complete Minecraft day.
    • <s>: A real world second (20 game ticks).
