How to make a Blaze Farm in Minecraft

How to make a Blaze Farm in Minecraft

Blaze Powder, Blaze Rods, and Blaze Powder are vital crafting ingredients in potions or other Minecraft items. Blazes are formidable and dangerous creatures that you should not attempt to kill. This is why a Blaze Farm is the best way to collect these items. How do you create a Blaze Farm, though?

A blaze farm is a place where blazes are prevented from fleeing their spawning area. It uses lava to guide them to areas that can be harvested. Although lava can’t harm blazes they can be moved by flowinglava.

The most important and riskiest step is to locate a Nether Fortress, with a blaze spawner. You’ll need to kill any surrounding blazes, wither skeletons, and other hostile mobs nearby.

Next, light the area around your spawner. You’ll need to do this for at least six blocks out in every direction to prevent blazes from spawning. While I prefer glowstone, you could also use lanterns, torches, or other light sources.

Next you’ll need to dig seven blocks below the blaze spawner. Here you’ll need a space at least 13×13 blocks wide.

Directly below the spawner, you’ll need at 2×2 empty space surrounded by glass. This is the base of the ‘blaze cage.’ Build out from the now 4×4 glass square, until you’ve constructed a 10×10 glass base. This is your spawner’s bottom.

Next you’ll need to fully enclose the rest of the spawner. For the edges you can use any stone, I’ve used stone bricks as it’s what I had a lot of. Fill each side with glass, and you’ve now finished the shell of the spawner.

Next we’ll need to go down to the bottom of the structure. We’ll be constructing the harvesting area now. Place a chest 2 blocks below the opening and 1 block to the sides. As you build the chest, connect four hoppers by crouching. Placing slabs on top of hoppers is a good idea as items can pass through one slab and into a bucket.

You’ll also need to enclose the sides of the hoppers, and place two trap doors at the point where you want to farm. This will stop blazes firing at your face and preventing you from being seen by them.

Finally, in perhaps the second most dangerous part, you’ll need to enter the glass structure and finish the farm. Place vines in the ‘hole’ area in the middle. This prevents blazes from climbing up and escaping once they’ve entered the killing area.

Next, place a bucket full of lava in each corner. If you’ve done things right, the lava will finish just at the edge of the hole. Take the bottom off the glass and move up to the top.

Now you’ll need to enter the farm one last time, and place a slab on top of the spawner. This will stop blazes from sticking to the trap or getting stuck on the spawner.

Finally, get out of the area by destroying all light sources. Blazes will spawn as soon as the light sources are destroyed, so you’ll need to be careful. Enjoy your blaze farm!
