How to Disenchant in Minecraft?

Enchantments give special abilities to any tool or weapon in Minecraft. Players may also want to remove an enchantment from an item if they find better. The disenchantment feature can be used to remove an ability from any item. To disenchant in Minecraft, you will need a grindstone and the enchanted item.

Disenchantment by using a grinder

First, you’ll need to make a grindingstone. To make a grindstone in Minecraft, you will require 2 wooden planks 2 sticks, and 1 stone slab.

  • Wooden planks – You can easily get some wooden logs by chopping down a tree. You can further process the logs to make wooden planks using crafting tables.
  • Sticks – Similar to wooden planks, wooden logs can also be used to craft sticks.
  • Stone slab – Out of all the ingredients, the stone slab is a bit difficult to craft. You will first need to build a furnace. For a furnace, you will need to break up some cobblestone.

You can place some cobblestone and fuel in the furnace to create a rock. Next, arrange the stone in this order to obtain a slab of stone.

Once your stone slab is ready, take a 3×3 crafting table and arrange all the ingredients for Grindstone as shown in the image below.

Place any enchanted armor, weapon, or tool inside the grinder, and then remove it from the stone.

After putting an item through a grinder, the old enchantment cannot be restored to it. Be careful when disenchanting an item.
