We will be discussing the best Minecraft sword enchantments and which ones to use more of.
Smite
Smite is a very useful enchantment to fight the undead mobs within the game. The enchantment provides a massive damage boost, depending on its level. A lot of zombies and other undead will be encountered during the game.
We recommend Smite, which is a great enchantment to have on your sword. The undead are one of the most prevalent mob types in the game.
Bane of Arthropods has a similar effect but you don’t get a boost to undead. Instead, you get an increase in damage to these creatures.
- Spiders
- Bees
- Silverfish
- Endermites
In the end, the enchantment does not have much value beyond spiders. If you are able to, we recommend choosing smite.

Sharpness/ Fire aspect
Sharpness, the next enchantment is extremely useful and one of the most effective for increasing the melee damage to your weapon.
Your level determines the damage boost. The highest level enchantment boost is level 5. You can also increase your damage output with the addition of fire aspect. This adds fire damage on your sword.
Knockback
Knockback is another good enchantment. It increases the knockback effect when enemies are struck with a sword three blocks away. A practical enchantment can give you an advantage when being overwhelmed by mobs, or in PVP with other players.
Sweeping Edge
Sweeping edge is another noteworthy enchantment. It boosts the sweeping strike of swords depending upon the level of the sword’s sweeping edge. The damage output from the sweeping strike will be affected by the level of any enchantment, such as sharpness.
Looting
Looting is your best enchantment if you want to collect more items when fighting mobs. This should always be done on your sword. The level of the enchantment on the sword will affect how many bonus drops you get from looting.
