Minecraft 1.18 Caves and Cliffs Part 2 has completely changed the way that underground travel is done. There are now many cave biomes to choose from, rather than your sole hope of finding ores or open areas.
To go with the rework, there are also new ore distributions. With the new world height, players can now go deeper underground than ever. These are the latest changes to Minecraft 1.18 caves: Caves and Cliffs Part 2.
Biomes
The Caves and Cliff Part 2 update added two cave biomes to the game. They can appear underground as well as inside of mountains. Although the most common type of base cave is still found, these types can also be found.

Lush Caves, which are marked by an Azalea Leaf on the surface of the caves, are filled with greenery. You will find moss, grasses, glow berries and drip leaves as well as vines and other greenery. Clay and water pools are also available.
